Transactional email pricing in 2026 is not a single stamp. ArawaMail Pro is $20/month for 50,000 included sends plus hosted mailboxes. Amazon SES à-la-carte is still about $5 for those 50,000 outbound messages — and new SES accounts often start on Essentials at $0.16 per 1,000. The finance conversation is inboxes + API + engineering time, not the screenshot.
The screenshot that loses the argument
A founder pastes SES at $0.10 per 1,000 into Slack. Fifty thousand receipts look like $5. Then billing@ is still a personal Gmail alias, password-reset mail lands in spam, and nobody can explain the line item when finance asks why the product still needs a mailbox product.
That is the real cost of email infrastructure: a sending API plus people who own custom-domain inboxes. Treating transactional mail as a side project hides both.
How we analyzed this
Figures below were checked on draft day (16 September 2026) against:
- Live ArawaMail pricing (Free $0 / Pro $20 / Business $80).
- Amazon SES pricing and the 21 July 2026 pricing-plan launch (Essentials / Pro / Enterprise plus surviving à-la-carte rates).
- Public Microsoft 365 Business list prices after the 1 July 2026 increase (Basic $7/user/mo, Standard $14/user/mo). Those seats are not a sending API.
ArawaMail does not document unlimited bursting, dedicated IPs, or a warmup product. Q4 volume must fit the plan cap or paid overage on Pro and Business. Retrieve Email last_event (for example sent) is not inbox placement and is not a finance metric.
What ArawaMail actually bills
Every public plan bundles business email and a Resend-compatible sending API on company-managed domains (Cloudflare zone required; outbound sending is enabled after receiving is active).

Inbox and sent mail stay until deleted, subject to storage. Calendar and contacts are on the public table. Copies forwarded from a mailbox count toward the transactional allowance. Use the public cost calculator to swap your own volume before you take the slide to finance.
Amazon SES in 2026 is two price books
The $0.10 / 1,000 outbound à-la-carte rate still exists, plus $0.12 per GB of attachment data. Dedicated IPs are extra. That is not the default for every new account.
From 21 July 2026, SES also sells packaged plans. New accounts and inactive account×region combinations start on Essentials. Customers can switch to à-la-carte. The old SES-specific 3,000-message free tier is no longer available for new customers.

Worked monthly math
50,000 transactional sends
- ArawaMail Pro: $20 if you stay inside the included cap. That price also covers up to 10 domains, 10 team members, and 10 GB of mailbox storage.
- SES à-la-carte: about $5 in stamp price (50 × $0.10), plus whatever you pay for mailboxes.
- SES Essentials: about $8 at $0.16 / 1,000.
- SES Pro plan: $105 fee + about $11 in stamps ≈ $116 before seats.
Add three Microsoft 365 Business Basic seats at $7 and the SES à-la-carte stack is already $5 + $21 = $26 before anyone writes a suppression handler. Five Standard seats at $14 make the mailbox line $70 by itself.
300,000 transactional sends
- ArawaMail Business: $80 for the first 100,000 + 200,000 × $0.0003 = $60 overage → $140 before you debate storage.
- ArawaMail Pro overage path: $20 + 250,000 × $0.0004 = $100 → $120. Cheaper on stamps; tighter on domains, seats, and retention.
- SES à-la-carte: about $30 in stamps. Still missing inboxes, DNS ownership, and on-call time.
- SES Essentials: about $48 at the first-band $0.16 rate.
At high volume, raw SES can still win on stamp price. That is expected. Do not claim ArawaMail is cheaper at every band. The question is whether you want to staff the missing mailbox product and the SES console.

A cheap stream that fails Gmail and Yahoo bulk-sender rules is not cheap. Read the 2026 bulk-sender requirements before you model Q4 volume.
Does Free cover a flash sale?
No. Free includes 3,000 sends and has no overage path. A Black Friday spike that exceeds the cap requires an upgrade to Pro or Business. Plan the cap in August, not on the morning of the sale.

- Separate stamp price from mailbox seats in the spreadsheet.
- State which SES book you are on (à-la-carte vs Essentials vs Pro plan).
